The roads here in Hyderabad are more beat up than a hooker with a coked up pimp.
This wasn't the case earlier, however this is not the point of this post.
I was returning from work the other day. It was a hot and humid afternoon, the roads were empty, and you could see the hot air making squiggles in the air. When I say that the roads were deserted, I mean that not even the stray dogs who have a penchant for falling under trucks and other vehicles, especially during mating season, were around.
Just near my house, there are potholes big enough to swallow the odd unsuspecting cyclist or two. Nearing that very spot, I slowed my car down in anticipation of the "rough road" ahead, when I saw this chick riding a scooter-ette of some sort in a direction opposite to that of mine, She was dressed in blue and had on a helmet, Oooh mysterious!, maybe she is a fairy I thought, on reconnaissance. 'Bah!' is what you must be thinking, everyone knows that there is no such thing as 'reconnaissance' and that it is a word I just made up.
So, anyway back from that tangent, I tried to cross the pothole-field as slowly as I could, while she was just about to start the pothole-stretch when I saw her hands shake, and then her vehicle came to an abrupt halt and KERGKRASCH!!! fell on its side. It was as though, faced with the thought of having to maneuver through the killer holes and the unfairness of life, she just gave up all hope and decided to cease driving right on the spot. Period.
I had to help her, even though she was clearly not hurt, I began to dream.
Chance meeting. Gratitude. Phone number. Dates. Marriage. Fun.
Bullshit! that sort of crap doesn't even happen in the movies these days. The gods weren't with me on this one either, because before I could find a place to park my car, these three men appeared from nowhere, ready to help her, those bastards! those vicious minions of hell! I mean where the hell were they hiding ? Were they patiently waiting in the corners for exactly this sort of situation so that they might rush in and prevent a poor fool's dreams from turning true ? Do you have to sign up for this sort of thing ? And how did they know about my plans ?
