Into the Wild

So I was watching VH1, but only because they sometimes have that retro stuff going on, which the 'children of the nineties' like myself can bear to watch. (I can't stand hip-hop, that is some real nasty stuff). I saw Eddie Vedder's cover of a song called "Hard Sun" on the OST for "Into the Wild" based on Jon Krakauer's book of the same name. It is the true story of Christopher McCandless an american wanderer who ceased communicating with his family and donated his life savings after his graduation and began travelling. He later abandoned his car and burned the money in his wallet. McCandless then got a ride to the Alaskan wilderness to trek the stampede trail, with some provisions and a rifle. He survived for about a 100 days and eventually died there in the wilderness. The movie details his life. The movie sounds interesting and I would like to watch it. Then I'll try to read the book, if I can find it.

I read all of this on wikipedia. Oops no big surprise there! but what strikes me as odd is: Why don't we have things like this happening here in India ?
You know ? for example some guy wanting to go out and venture into the wilderness of the Western Ghats armed with just an air gun, trying to search for that higher truth, the pinnacle which is the limit of his spiritual self, that... you get the picture.

Is this proof of our spirituality ? or its lack thereof ?

Natalie Portman for President!
If Sonia Gandhi...then why not Natalie ?
They both act equally well
But Natalie is much more pretty.

You ask particularly after my health. I suppose that I have not many months to live; but, of course, I know nothing about it. I may add that I am enjoying existence as much as ever, and regret nothing.
